750 climate-appropriate care kits. Meal-ready meal bags. Warm handoffs to mental-health, housing, and recovery services. The same BJJ posture — meeting our neighbors where they are, never forcing the position, building trust one encounter at a time.
Community Reach Out brings BJJ's discipline of meeting an opponent where they are to the streets of Riverside County. We do not impose. We offer, we wait, we accept the answer.
750 hand-assembled kits over a three-month pilot, distributed at events and through partner shelters. Built for Riverside's true threat — heat, not cold. Hydration, electrolytes, sun protection, foot care, hygiene, and a printed resource card with 988, 211, and local mental-health and housing numbers.
Commercially pre-packaged, ready-to-eat. We source from licensed vendors and distribute under California's Good Samaritan Food Donation Act. Two operating models — volunteering with established meal programs, and Tap Out Depression assembling shelf-stable or sandwich meal bags for direct distribution.
"Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches you to meet your training partner where they are — read their tension, never force a position, and create the conditions for them to release. We bring that same posture to outreach."Tap Out Depression — Core Philosophy
Outreach to people in crisis fails when it pushes. BJJ trains the exact opposite reflex — patient pressure, calibrated contact, accepting where someone is in this moment.
Every volunteer completes a four-hour module on safety, choice, collaboration, and trustworthiness — the same SAMHSA principles used in clinical trauma care. We follow the 6-step first-contact script.
When help is wanted, we route — never abandon. A documented decision tree, printed on the back of every Distribution Day Checklist, lives in every volunteer's pocket. Crisis response is a procedure, not a guess.
Heat is the primary threat in our region — not cold. Our kits, our cadence, and our partner stack are tuned to Riverside County. We work alongside Path of Life, Lutheran Social Services SoCal, City Net, and Salvation Army Riverside.
We sponsor by belt rank. Your tier reflects the depth of partnership — from community supporter to mission champion.
In-kind sponsorship welcome — kit components, meal-bag components, printing, transportation, insurance, and professional services.
All amounts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. EIN 86-3618162.
Tell us a little about your interest and we will respond within two business days with a tier-matched packet, a finalized sponsorship agreement, and a planning call. No high-pressure tactics — same posture we bring to outreach.
